Sometimes we never know how life’s twists and turns will lead us to something that changes our lives. This certainly happened to Clinton Munkres — a new marathon runner residing in Lincoln, CA. Clinton wasn’t always a marathon runner. He became one through hard work and perseverance. In joining in a weight loss journey with his wife, Clinton discovered running, overcame type 2 diabetes, and (just recently) accomplished an incredible feat — going from 20+ years of living a sedentary lifestyle to becoming a couch-to-5K participant to finishing his first full marathon about a month ago.

NY Road Runners and ESPN recently published a fantastic infographic presenting the social and economic impact of the NYC Marathon. It’s amazing how much of an phenomenon the running marketing is becoming and, spearheaded by the likes of the NYC Marathon, it’s evident that the world at-large will continue to see it. With more and more running options and themes springing up every day, this will only diversify and grow the market even more. What strikes you as the biggest eye-opener in this infographic?
